Several new buildings are in course of construction at the university. One of the most important of these, the Flower Astronomical Observatory, will probably be ready for use in a few weeks. Owing to the lack of such a building in the past, the courses in astronomy have been limited almost entirely to theoretical work, and consequently have not been very popular. The completion of the Observatory with its imporved facilities for practical work, and the securing by Pennsylvania of Dr. Doolittle, recently of Lehigh University, should do much toward arousing more interest in this branch of study.
