...lovers of tuna. In Tokyo's upmarket Okusawa suburb, the lunch crowd at the sushi restaurant Irifune has thinned out. Katsumi Honda, Irifune's owner and head sushi chef, rhythmically chops blocks of pink and red flesh behind a counter. Now 68, Honda remembers how, as a boy, his first bite of Japanese hon maguro, or bluefin, inspired him to become a chef. For Honda, it's the only tuna there is. "Once you experience our natural maguro, you cannot go to a conveyor-belt sushi place anymore," he says. In 2001, when the yen was still rolling, Honda helped...

...Blagojevich is still campaigning. Despite his fall into the seventh circle of ignominy - perhaps you heard he was impeached as Illinois governor and faces federal corruption charges after allegedly auctioning off Barack Obama's empty U.S. Senate seat - Blagojevich is passing a crystalline afternoon pressing the flesh at a café near his home on Chicago's northwest side, eager to dispel the notion that he's a pariah. In part because Blagojevich is a very good politician, the reception is warmer than you might expect. He embraces an elderly supporter, quizzes a high school track team about its choice...

Despite the degree to which Nair is able to flesh out the aviatrix’s life, Amelia’s primary trait remains her desire to be “transported to a safe, beautiful place where everything is comprehensible.” She gets there through flight, but for those of us hampered by FAA regulations, “Amelia” offers an opportunity for the same experience. It is visually sumptuous, easy to understand, and endowed with the simple romanticism of a Capra film that Earhart might have watched herself. With any other director, it might...
