During the past week the football team has improved greatly from its showing in the Annapolis game. This improvement was especially noticeable in the game with Bucknell last Saturday. Here, spite of the soggy field and the drizzling rain which fell continuously throughout both halves, the backfield played with a snap and vigor that carried the Bucknell team off its feet. Around the ends and through the line they went with equal case, and this continued when the entire second string of backs had gone in. Saturday afternoon the University football eleven defeated the Springfield Training School in the Stadium by a score of 44 to 0. In spite of the heavy rain which fell throughout the game, and the consequent soft condition of the field and the slipperiness of the ball, the University team played a more open game than at any time this season, and managed the forward pass and the onside kick with great accuracy. ...season under the watch. The slow time, 27 minutes, does not indicate what the crew is capable of, because the men rowed down stream against wind and tide. The freshman eight raced the university boat for the first two miles and was ahead at the mile flag, but then fell off, passing the second mile flag off the Navy Yard about a length behind. Both crews rowed a slow stroke, except near their finish. The university four-oar went about two and a half miles in short stretches down stream, but returned in one stretch rowing hard. The freshman four...
