...Witched and Christina Aguilera, the tracks are far from the best the artists have released. In fact, the majority of the songs on the soundtrack are little more than bland, unoriginal works whose peppy beats are quickly dulled by the simple and repetitious verses they all employ. To be fair to the album, the target audience must be considered. The problem is the album itself seems confused about who that audience is. The colorful artwork of the album's cover is sure to catch the eye of any pre-teen, who make up most of the faithful watchers...

...Created and catapulted to significance in this version, Lady Van Tassel, Katrina's stepmother, is played by Miranda Richardson. Marrying Van Tassel after nursing Katrina's real mother until her death, Lady Van Tassel yields a new twist to the plot. Richardson, for most of the movie, gives a fair, airy performance, but her final scene is beyond awful. Her monologue summing up the plot may be intentionally trite, but regardless, its a poor anticlimax. It destroys all the magic built up in the suspenseful buildup towards the conclusion.
