Numerous examples might be cited of college organizations whose serious purpose has been much aided by the pleasant social features of their meetings. Little effort has been made to strengthen debating in this way, and we think that an innovation in the line of the experiment which Yale is reported to have begun, might be of practical value in Cambridge. The object should be, not so much to arrange dinners or other entertainments on special occasions, as to brighten up the regular meetings...

Sooner or later then effective cooperation must be obtained. There is small chance of final and complete success on any other basis. We welcome therefore this first meeting to unite the common interests. This list has been made out after careful consideration, and with the aid of numerous suggestions from outside sources. Every effort has been made to obtain a body representative of all the principal sports and of as many different localities as possible. It includes, in Messrs. Gardner, Brooks and Frothingham, the three graduate members of the Harvard Athletic Committee. Messrs. Bancroft, Storrow '85, Storrow '89, Watriss, Brandegee and Hutchinson represent rowing. Boyden, Hodges, Frothingman, Scannell and Wrenn represent baseball. Brooks, Waters, Wrightington, Sears, Cumnock and Holden are football men.
