Eric Portman is wearily proficient as the murderer; Greta Gynt is blowsily sexy as the wife. The forces of British law & order are, as usual, so immaculately polite about their business that it might tempt some U.S. observers to mayhem, just for the pleasure of meeting them. Occasionally there is a flicker of ingenuity or fright, but most of this picture is sad, stock-company stuff...
