...game was the fine interference given the Harvard runners by the rest of the team. In the line Kersburg, Burr and Osborne played the best game, the first two tearing big holes in the opposing line and then pulling the runner along. Parker played a fairly good game at center. The ends were not quite as strong as they should have been, for they failed several times to make easy tackles after getting within reach of the runner. Hall, who was taken out of the game on account of an injury to his hip, which will keep...

...Amherst team played a plucky game, but was clearly outclassed. They lost their only chance to score when Cobbs missed a goal from the center of the field on a drop kick, the ball failing to carry to the goal line. Twice the team would have made 30 yards or more on forward passes, but both times the University eleven was given the ball because it had not crossed the line of scrimmages at least five yards either side of the center...

...Freshman defense showed some improvement, but the offense was slow and consequently ineffective. This however, was partly due to the slippery condition of the field. Clark and Foreteller did the best work for Harvard. Several times Forckheimer broke through center and stopped end plays. Simons ran the team well, and Severance got off some good punts. ...beginning of the year, good material should be hard to obtain, this excuse scarcely serves to explain away the general mediocrity of the contents of the number. The illustrations, almost without exception, are good and seem to indicate sufficient care in execution, particularly the frontispiece, "Dea ex Machina", the center-page, "What will it bring forth", and the head-piece to "By the Way", all excellent work. "By the Way" itself, however, offers serious ground for the suggestion, already often made, that this column be definitely done away with. All the possibilities of this department seem to have been exhausted...
