Slowly and inevitably, Landa breaks down LaPadite’s resistance, reducing him to a quivering wreck and forcing him to surrender the Jewish family hiding in his cellar to be slaughtered. Natascha Kampusch's story is perhaps even more troubling. The Austrian girl was abducted at age 10 and held for eight years in a windowless cellar by her abductor, Wolfgang Priklopil.
