...teacher reading this article, I wasn't surprised by the diversity of the student body. Rather, it was the message that came across from the administration and staff: little or no homework because few do it anyway. "They can learn in class even if they aren't doing homework"--what educational philosophy is this? College preparation or adolescent latchkey? Just keep the kids in school (especially the blacks).
