At the very end of the race Blumer found an opening, and by powerful and desperate running threw himself across the tape ahead of Palmer. Leger and Kelley held their positions ahead of deSelding and the two Cornell men and took third and fourth respectively. If fewer men had been in the race the time would probably have been faster as there would have been less crowding...
