There has been in the last two or three weeks some trouble in regard to arranging the dates of the Harvard Yale Freshman base ball games, Yale insisting on June 1 as one date and Harvard not wishing to accept, because on that date the Harvard 'Varsity plays a game and the Yale 'Varsity does not, which would prevent Harvard from playing any men from the 'Varsity nine. Yale took the stand that she had a right to name one date and stick to it, eaving Harvard her choice of any other date she might wish...
...Harvard will probably offer as her date May 22, should settle the whole matter definitely. This arrangement will give both teams an equal advantage, far Harhas no 'Varsity game on the 22nd of May and Yale has. We cannot see any reason why in all fairness Yale should not accept this arrangement. Harvard will be undoubtedly justified in insisting on the acceptance of May 22, or any other date she may wish if Yale holds to June 1 as her choice...

Catain E. P. Smith, of the Columbia freshman crew, has recently sent a reply to the challenge of the Yale freshmen to a two-mile straightaway race at New London. Captain Smith refuses to accept the challenge, but states his willingness to admit the Yale freshmen to the Harvard Columbia race, provided Harvard agree. As Harvard will in all probability refuse to agree to any such proposition, the Yale freshmen and the Columbia freshmen will not race this year...

We submitted June 1 at New Haven, believing it would be most practical for Yale, It seems but just that each college should have the choosing of one of the two dates. Therefore, for the first game, we will accept any date Harvard may offer, provided, according to agreement, that it be played at Cambridge. For the second game Yale will choose as before, June 1, at New Haven. By this means, we believe, dates can be arranged by both Harvard and Yale, which shall prove for the best interests...
